After an outstanding career-low round of nine-under 61 on Thursday, Parnevik started strong on Friday with birdies on his first two holes. Despite a bogey at the par four 11th, he played error-free golf for the rest of the day, finishing with back-to-back birdies at 13 and 14 for a total score of 14-under 126.

American Steve Flesch, who had been performing well recently with two wins in five starts, missed the cut by two shots after carding an even par round. Additionally, John Daly struggled with a two-over par score for the second consecutive day, resulting in an early exit from the tournament.
