Former extreme adventurer Will MacKenzie made a strong start at teh wyndham Championship in North Carolina, shooting an notable eight-under-par 64 to take the lead after the first round. The north Carolina native, known for his adventurous spirit and love of outdoor sports, showed his skills on the golf course with a run of seven birdies in nine holes.

MacKenzie, a professional kayaker who enjoys activities like snowboarding and rock climbing, took advantage of ideal scoring conditions at Forest Oak Country Club in Greensboro.After a bogey on the first hole, he quickly recovered with birdies on the second, fifth, eighth, and ninth to make the turn at three-under 33.

The 32-year-old player continued his strong performance on the back nine, adding birdies on the 10th, 11th, 13th, 15th, and 16th holes to finish with an impressive score of eight under par. His stellar play put him one stroke ahead of Lucas Glover and tied him with fellow Americans Steve Marino and Jeff overton and also Britain’s Brian Davis.

Glover, who was recently selected for the US Presidents Cup team as a captain’s pick along with another American player steve Stricker.
