Robert Garrigus Takes Lead in St. Jude Classic
Rory McIlroy Falls Behind
American journeyman Robert Garrigus has taken a two-shot lead in the third round of the St. Jude Classic, upstaging his more illustrious rivals. Despite battling food poisoning, Garrigus fired a four-under-par 66 to lead with an 11-under total of 199.
Garrigus’ stellar performance pushed him ahead of players like Rory McIlroy and Padraig Harrington, who struggled to keep up with the pace. The Swede Robert Karlsson also made a strong showing with a birdie on the 18th green to secure second place.
Garrigus, who has faced challenges this season on the PGA Tour, was especially pleased with his performance after recovering from food poisoning last week. His focus on his game paid off as he took control of the tournament after the turn.
