Third Round Play Suspended Due to Thunderstorm

Red-hot golfer Robert Karlsson is on track for a third successive victory and the European Order of Merit title after moving into a tie for the lead at the Portugal Masters. The 39-year-old swede, along with England’s Ross Fisher, were both on 14-under-par when play was suspended due to a thunderstorm.

Karlsson and Fisher, who recently clashed in a play-off at the Dunhill Links Championship, were playing exceptionally well before officials halted play. Spanish golfer Alvaro Quiros is also in contention at 14-under-par with five holes left to complete in his third round.

Meanwhile, halfway leader Stuart Manley struggled on day three and dropped down the leaderboard after a triple bogey seven. Former Open champion Paul Lawrie had an up-and-down round but remains in contention.

Lee Westwood,currently third on the Order of Merit,had a lackluster performance with an even-par round. Despite his struggles, he remains within striking distance of Karlsson.

Karlsson expressed satisfaction with his focus and performance so far. He has been consistent throughout the season and is determined to secure another victory. Fisher acknowledged Karlsson’s superior consistency but still has hopes of catching up in the tournament.

Rory McIlroy had a solid round but faltered with a double bogey on the final hole. He sits five shots off the lead at nine-under-par.Gary Murphy and Peter Lawrie are aiming for top-20 finishes while Graeme McDowell and Darren clarke are looking to improve their positions in subsequent rounds.

The competition remains fierce as players vie for top spots on the leaderboard heading into the final day of play at Portugal Masters.
