Theegala Donates to Wildfire Relief Efforts
The Lower Sahith Theegala Goes, the More He Donates
Professional golfer Sahith Theegala has pledged to donate money towards wildfire relief efforts in the greater Los Angeles area based on his performance at the Sony Open. The 27-year-old announced on his Instagram account that he will donate $100 for every birdie and $250 for every eagle he makes during the tournament. The donations will go to charities such as the Red Cross, Direct Relief, and the Canine Rescue Club.
Supporting Multiple Charities
The Red Cross provides essential services like shelter, food, emotional support, and health services to those affected by wildfires. With nearly 180,000 people forced to evacuate and over 29,000 acres burned in the area, their assistance is crucial. Direct Relief collaborates with Los Angeles-area YMCAs to distribute free N95 masks to protect individuals from smoke inhalation. Additionally, the Canine Rescue Club offers temporary foster care for pets displaced by fires.
Sahith Theegala emphasized that any contribution can make a difference during this challenging time. Born in Orange, California – located south of Los Angeles – he attended Pepperdine University where he excelled as a member of their golf team.
By using his platform and success in golf to support those affected by wildfires in his hometown region, Sahith Theegala demonstrates both skill on the course and compassion off it.
