Sir Nick Faldo Returns to Chart Hills Golf Club for Course Upgrades
H2: Sir Nick Faldo’s Visit to Chart Hills Golf Club H3: Reviewing the Ongoing Upgrades H4: Practice Putting Green Inspired by Major Wins
Sir Nick Faldo recently made a visit to Chart Hills Golf Club in Kent, where he revisited one of his earliest and most significant course design projects. The renowned golfer took the opportunity to review the ongoing upgrades to the course that he first designed back in 1993.
During his visit, Sir Nick had a first look at the newly designed practice putting green, which takes inspiration from some of his favorite greens from major wins at Augusta, Muirfield, and St Andrews. The putting green even features its own version of the Valley of Sin, paying homage to the iconic undulating patch of fairway that fronts the 18th green at St Andrews’ Old Course.
Chart Hills Golf Club has undergone extensive renovation work in recent years, transforming it into one of England’s premier golf destinations. In 2021, a major fairway project was completed where every fairway was sand-capped, making it a winter-proof course with excellent playability year-round. Following this success, the club announced a second phase of renovations in August this year. This phase includes refurbishing all tee boxes and completing construction on a new par-3 course designed by Sir Nick Faldo himself.
The par-3 course is inspired by short holes that Sir Nick has encountered during his career on tour. With holes ranging from 50 to 100 yards, each hole features design elements reminiscent of iconic holes at St Andrews, Augusta National, and even Chart Hills’ main course. This new addition is sure to provide golfers with an exciting challenge while showcasing Sir Nick Faldo’s expertise in golf course design.
